We are a family owned and operated Christmas Tree Farm located just minutes from the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York. The Farm is easy to find, at 401 Lincoln Road in Canton, just off Route 11. Choose from a variety of trees, including Balsam Fir, Blue Spruce, White Spruce, Fraser Fir and Norwegian Spruce. We also offer fresh Adirondack Evergreen Fir and Balsam Wreaths for sale, handmade right at the farm.

Bear Dance Tree Farm was founded in 2003 by Hans and Marilyn Welbergen, and is managed with the help of several family members.
The farm rests on 145 acres of fields and woodlands, with abundant nature and is a certified wildlife habitat.
The house is the center of activity with the original portion of the home built as a farm house in the 1800′s by Dutch settlers.
There are several species of trees growing at Bear Dance Farm.
If you are looking for a Christmas Tree, you may choose from Balsam Fir, Fraser Fir, Blue Spruce, White Spruce and Norwegian Spruce.
You can also find beautiful old fashioned Adirondack Evergreen Fir and Balsam Wreaths for sale, all handmade at the farm.
Each wreath has it’s own sleigh bell ornament, which your family will definitely want to hang on to!

You won’t want to miss the complimentary Green Mountain Coffee and cocoa in the Christmas barn, with candy canes for everyone!

History of the Christmas Tree

The Christmas tree, also known as a Yule tree, is a decorated evergreen coniferous tree and a tradition associated with the celebration of Christmas. The tradition of decorating an evergreen tree at Christmas started in Livonia in 1510 and in Germany in the 16th century. The Christmas tree is traditionally brought into the home and decorated with Christmas lights. Originally candles were used. The first Christmas trees were decorated with paper roses, apples and candies. An angel or star was placed at the top of the tree, representing the host of angels or the Star of Bethlehem from the Nativity. It is believed the first Christmas trees introduced to the United States came from German settlers in Pennsylvania as early as 1747.
